Last week we talked about yet another teaser site, with Square Enix hinting at what some believed to be a new Romancing Saga. It would seem that Saga fans will be disappointed, but Final Fantasy fans will be elated at the news that a brand new game, Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden is on the way, and it’s heading to the Nintendo DS.
As usual, the teaser site’s contents were revealed before the site could officially make the announcement, with Weekly Jump magazine detailing Squeenix’s brand new game. Gaiden tells the tale of a fourteen-year-old boy who is summoned by a king on his birthday to rescue a princess. Highly original stuff, right!?
The game allegedly takes the form of a menu-driven traditional RPG, in which MP has been replaced by a new “Charge” function. No idea what that means for now, but I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough. Customization should also be part of the focus, with equipment changes having an effect on how your character looks. All RPGs should have this function, but barely any do, so that’s good to know.
So, no new Saga news so far. Sad things for some. Still, we have another Final Fantasy game. We haven’t had one of those for a few weeks.
