What do acorns do in AFK Journey?

Not for eating.

AFK Journey Cecia

Like many gacha games, AFK Journey has a lot of weird currencies. One that you may notice whenever you pull for new heroes is acorns. Pull 10 times, and you’ll likely get 7-9 acorns. So, what do they do?

How to use Acorns in AFK Journey

Acorns are used to ascend your heroes. Sometimes. A lot of the time, you use Soul Sigils, which are just duplicates of that hero. In fact, for Celestial/Hypogean characters, you can only use Soul Sigils. For some levels on A-Rank (Purple) and S-Rank (Gold), you’ll need acorns rather than Soul Sigils to upgrade their rank.

For A-Rank, this only happens once. You need 200 acorns from their faction to level them up from Mystic+ to Supreme.

For S-Rank, it’s 50 acorns to go from Epic+ to Legendary, 100 from Legandary+ to Mythic, and 200 to go from Mythic+ to Supreme.

Those are all that acorns are used for. They have a very defined purpose, but an extremely important one if you want to buff your heroes.

One thing to note about acorns is that they’re faction-specific, so you’ll need Graveborn acorns to upgrade your Graveborn heroes, Wilder acorns to upgrade your Wilder heroes, and so on. However, there are “Omni Acorns” that can be applied to any hero, filling the gap when you don’t have enough of a faction-specific acorn.

Where to get Acorns in AFK Journey

As mentioned, your main source of acorns will be from recruiting (pulling) new heroes. While doing a 10 letter pull will assure you get at least one hero, the other nine could be all acorns.

You can also get a number of acorns by purchasing some bundles from the store, such as the Noble Path battlepass. This changes every so often, so you’ll need to check what is included whenever making a purchase.

Finally, you can also get them from Legend Trial, which unlocks at AFK level 166, obtained from clicking on the AFK hamster in the bottom-left of the screen and selecting battle until your heroes can fight up to the appropriate level.
