How to get a Deluxe Worm Bin in Stardew Valley

Wriggly, wriggly worms.

Worm Bins in Stardew Valley

If you’re hoping to go fishing in Stardew Valley, it’s a good idea to take a lot of Bait with you. Rather than crafting it individually or buying it from Willy’s Fish Shop, you’re much better off crafting and utilizing a Worm Bin.

Bait can be used either on your Rod or in Crab Pots and different baits offer the opportunity to catch different or higher quality fish. You’ll need to have at least a Fiberglass Rod before you can use bait of any kind. Before you can build a Deluxe Worm Bin, you’ll need to have already crafted a basic Worm Bin.

The recipe for a basic Worm Bin is unlocked when you reach level 2 in fishing, so it’s an early game item that can be really useful to craft. In order to make a Worm Bin, you’ll need the following resources:

  • 15 Hardwood
  • 1 Gold Bar
  • 1 Iron Bar
  • 50 Fiber

Once you’ve crafted and placed the Worm Bin down, you’ll receive between four and five pieces of bait every morning, which quickly stacks up.

The recipe for a Deluxe Worm Bin in Stardew Valley is unlocked upon reaching level 8 in fishing. As I said, you’ll need to have crafted the basic Worm Bin in order to build the upgraded deluxe version.

To make a Deluxe Worm Bin, you’ll need to take the original bin with you to the crafting bench (or have it in your inventory) along with 30 pieces of Moss.

The recipe for the Deluxe Worm Bin is very simple, but it offers some preferred Deluxe Bait each morning.

Bait can be placed on any Rod other than a Training Rob or Bamboo Pole in order to reduce the time it takes to get a bite by 50%. Deluxe Bait reduces the time taken to get a bite by 67%.

To attach some bait to your rod on PC, open your inventory and select the bait by left-clicking, before right-clicking on your rod. Once you’ve done this, one piece of bait will be used each time you cast your line, so it’s worth having a big stack if you plan on doing a lot of fishing.

Bait can also be used in Crab Pots and you need some kind of bait in your Crab Pot before you will catch anything. Deluxe Bait will reduce the likelihood that you’ll catch trash items, and also increase the quality of things that have been caught to silver quality.
