How to get the Destiny 2 Tusk Of The Boar God Roll

It’ll gore ya.

Even though Destiny 2 is poised to receive a substantial shake-up of the weapon meta, some Perk and weapon-type combinations are simply too good to pass up on. The Tusk of the Boar grenade launcher, for example, has several potential god rolls to farm for, and they’re essentially must-haves.

Of course, the upcoming release of Destiny 2‘s Brave weapon set is going to be the thing to farm for in the coming weeks and months, but that’s not to say you can’t take a break from Onslaught to play some Iron Banner. Indeed, the Tusk of the Boar is one of Lord Saladin’s latest custom-built offerings: this break-action Strand grenade launcher packs a lofty punch in all the ways that count, and so we highly recommend farming for it when the opportunity shows. Here’s how to go about doing just that!

Farming for the Tusk of the Boar god roll in Destiny 2

The Tusk of the Boar Stasis special ammo grenade launcher is one of the latest additions to Destiny 2‘s Iron Banner loot pool. Farming for it is, in theory, simple and straightforward: just play unhealthy amounts of Iron Banner and hope for the best. The kicker, of course, is that you do need to wait until Iron Banner is available to do so.

That’s not necessarily the ideal way to farm for the Tusk of the Boar, though. Doubly so if you want to get a specific Perk combination, which is unlikely to roll on your first try. Instead of struggling with the god roll purely through randomized drops in Iron Banner, we recommend focusing the weapon via Lord Saladin. After you’ve received at least one version of Tusk of the Boar from Iron Banner, you’ll be able to spend a single Iron Banner Engram to focus on another copy: that’s what we recommend doing until you’re happy with what you’ve got.

Tusk of the Boar came out not too long ago, as one of the interim weapons to farm for ahead of Destiny 2: Into the Light‘s release. As such, there wasn’t a huge deal of hype surrounding the weapon, and it wasn’t until players figured out its Perk pool that the became the thing to farm for in Iron Banner. It’s important that the weapon is a recent addition, too, because that means it’s unlikely to be taken out of the loot pool anytime soon, giving you ample opportunities to grind for it.

What is the god roll of Tusk of the Boar?

There are two disparate Tusk of the Boar god rolls: one for PvE, and the other for PvP. Depending on whether you need the launcher to face off against Guardians or against Destiny‘s wide array of paracausal beasties, you should be aiming for entirely different Perk sets.

Here’s the PvE Tusk of the Boar god roll:

  • Origin Trait: Field-Tested
  • Masterwork: Velocity
  • Barrel: Quick Launch
  • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
  • Perk #1: Slice / Envious Assassin
  • Perk #2: Hatchling / Chain Reaction

Some may argue that billing Chain Reaction as a god roll option is a tad optimistic, given that the Perk is being revamped with the Into the Light update, but it’s bound to remain at least somewhat compelling no matter what.

As for the PvP Tusk of the Boar god roll, we recommend the following:

  • Origin Trait: Field-Tested
  • Masterwork: Velocity
  • Barrel: Smart Drift Control
  • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
  • Perk #1: Slideways
  • Perk #2: Swashbuckler

Our PvP god roll is about as safe as they get, yes, but fighting against other Guardians necessitates reliability, and you cannot beat the Slideways + Swashbuckler combo in that regard. Note that Tusk of the Boar can roll Deconstruct, too, which has a funny (and potentially bugged) interaction with wave frame launchers, so that might be something to look out for as well.
