The newest Helldivers 2 Warbond launched yesterday to explosive results (unless you’re trying to use the new Adjudicator DMR.. yeesh), but players were left scratching their heads regarding the coolest-looking new armor set. The CE-27 Ground Breaker, initially shown to have the Engineering Kit passive, launched with the comparatively lousy Servo-Assisted passive instead.
A last minute change? Luckily for those of us who want to rock a sweet gas mask, no. A post to the official Discord by a developer clears the issue up:
For a quick comparison between these two armor passives:
- Engineering Kit: Further educes recoil while crouching or prone by 30% and increases grenade inventory and holding capacity by 2
- Servo-Assisted: Increases throwing range by 30% (think grenades and Stratagems) and provides 50% bonus to limb health
I’m quite happy this was a simple bug and not an intended change, as I’m far more interested in rocking two additional grenades and lowering my crouched recoil than throwing my Stratagems a little farther away. Some people swear that the 30% additional throwing range granted by Servo-Assisted armor is a lifesaver, but I swear it’ll just cause me to miss my grenade throws when they matter most. The additional 50% limb health might have helped, though, on the rare occasion I’m not one-shot or burned alive in seconds.
All this discussion over armor passives and their immutable attachment to people’s favorite-looking armor has lots of players hoping for a separation of looks and utility. I feel like we aren’t a long ways off such a quality-of-life change, especially with so many shiny armors to unlock (and buy). Because why limit our democratic escapades to only a few outfits?
