A new era of Pokémon Go is about to dawn with the upcoming release of the ‘Rediscover’ update. This update will not just tweak, but completely revamp the classic UI, transforming the visuals of battles, avatars, and the general screen.

The Rediscover Go trailer unveils the long-running mobile game’s new look, starting with refreshed avatar designs. The enhanced customization options now offer more defining details with shading, color, and a new background. Compared to the base game’s appearance, it’s a major upgrade, as Pokémon Go introduces a plethora of additional avatar and Style Shop designs.

Although the new in-game map interface was only briefly shown, there are still some clear improvements. While The layout retains the game’s roots, colors and area objects maintain more clearly defined edges and what appears to be enhanced textures. It also seems to load more background objects in the distance.

Aside from visuals, Pokémon Go photographers can immerse themselves in Go Snapshot’s upcoming features. One we know, in particular, is the option to take pictures with three Pokémon in a single photo. The new Pokémon Go updates are expected to arrive over the month, with the final launch in early May.

Pokémon Go Rediscover update release dates

  • New avatar customization – April 17
  • New changes to Pokémon Go’s visuals (in-game map/battles) – April 22
  • Rediscover Kanto region update – April 22
  • Go Snapshot update – May 7

The Kanto region update is the only one not explicitly discussed in the trailer or Pokémon Go page. Nevertheless, we know that creatures from this region will make “homes in certain biomes.” This description could mean new creatures for your collection or a spotlight designated for Earth Day. Shiny Pokémon will likely be included to spawn more rare types, similar to most celebrations.
