Raven Software acted fast and nerfed the MORS sniper rifle after players discovered they could down enemies through the ground or wall.
On April 15, CoD content creator Adiofreak posted a video proving that the MORS can shoot through any surface in Warzone with the Photonic Charge Barrel and Anti-Material ammunition equipped. In the clip, Adio downed an enemy, shooting through the bottom of the ground after live-pinging their location. The streamer also posted a second highlight to confirm his suspicion by getting a one-shot kill through a building. Other players followed suit and started live-pinging enemies to reveal their location. So even if they hid behind an object, the live-ping marker and glitch made it possible for players to get easy downs.
Raven Software sprung into action and responded by reducing the MORS’s penetration. The Photonic Charge Barrel will no longer provide “uncapped penetration” and the HVP Anti Material Slug Ammo now has a reduced penetration multiplier. We still expect the MORS to be the best sniper rifle in Warzone, but this update means it will no longer be able to shoot through the ground or walls.
As part of the Warzone April 16 update, the devs finally resolved an optic misalignment issue with the MORS that caused bullets to travel slightly off-center. So even with its “uncapped penetration” nerfed, the new Season 3 sniper rifle is still one of the best weapons in Warzone. A lethal combination of incredible aim-down sight speed, bullet velocity, fire rate, movement speed, and reload time make the MORS a must-use sniper rifle. If you weren’t already using this rifle, make sure to give it a shot in Resurgence or standard battle royale matches.
