The Academy Saga of Chainsaw Man is heading towards a big clash between two of its most prominent characters. Well, at least it seems that way, until Fujimoto throws another curve ball. Here’s the release date, time, and all our best speculation about what’s to come in Chainsaw Man Chapter 164.
Chainsaw Man Chapter 164 release date and time
Chainsaw Man Chapter 164 will debut on April 30, 2024 at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET. That’s exactly a week from its most recent chapter drop, so it looks like we’re not enduring another multi-week wait as the action picks up.
It’s unclear how many chapters there will be in the Academy Saga of Chainsaw Man. Part 1, Public Security Saga, spanned 97 chapters, and we’re 67 chapters into Part 2. For comparison, 67 chapters in is about where the International Assassins arc was starting to wrap up in Part 1. The current arc doesn’t really have a name as of yet, it seems, so I’ll just take to calling it the Prison Break arc for now.
Where to read Chainsaw Man Chapter 164
Chainsaw Man Chapter 164 will be on a few platforms, notably Viz Media and Shueisha’s MangaPlus. Both sites offer the three most recent chapters for free, as well as the first three, but currently require a subscription of some kind to read the back issues.
I personally use MangaPlus and find it pretty handy across computers, tablets, and phones. As for what to expect? We’ll talk about that, but obviously, spoilers for all available Chainsaw Man chapters up through 163 will follow.
What to expect in Chainsaw Man Chapter 164
We’re now on the other side of the big jailbreak to get Chainsaw Man out of Public Security’s grasp, and our cast has gathered at Fami’s hideout. Asa is still trying to understand the revelation that Denji is Chainsaw Man, while Yoru and the rest are just waiting around for their turn to fight him once he wakes up.
It seems like the War Devil is finally going to get her wish, as both she and Katana Man are eager to have it out with Chainsaw Man. Though Denji is still coming to, I imagine we’ll see his full reaction to the revelation that Asa is Yoru/the War Devil, and even more, in the next chapter. Considering Part 2 has maintained the signature juggling act of violence and slice-of-life that makes Chainsaw Man so unique, we’ll probably get a double dose of both in Chainsaw Man Chapter 164.
