Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone has been pumping out the updates for Stardew Valley again and this time, as part of 1.6.4, we’ve got another new fishing based feature that will help if you’re hoping to catch a large number of fish.
Fish Frenzies are signposted events which can happen in the following areas:
- The Mountains
- The Forest
- The Beach
- Pelican Town River
You’ll know when a Fish Frenzy is occurring because a pop-up will appear in the lower left corner of the screen, much like when you level up a skill or a train is passing through the valley.
What is a Fish Frenzy in Stardew Valley?
When you see the pop-up, head to the area described within it and find the bubbling spot in the water. The spot will be filled with many fish, jumping out of the water. This is, for all intents and purposes, a Fish Frenzy.
Once you’ve found this spot, cast your line and you’ll be able to enjoy much shorter times between bites, allowing you to catch a large number of fish. Of course, the fish you catch will be limited to the type associated with the current Frenzy and you should make sure to take plenty of Bait and Bobbers.
How to maximise profit from a Fishing Frenzy
Fish are, at base level, usually not worth much. However, if you’re looking to sell your caught fish for profit, you can massively increase their value by using a Smoker.
When placed in a Smoker, fish retain their quality while their value is doubled. Depending on the fish, you can make a lot of Gold this way.
