Viacom’s quarterly revenues were down 14 percent. When sales are down, you’ve gotta blame someone or something, right?
Rock Band gets the blame this time around. Profit dropped 26 percent, and they’re saying that lower sales of Rock Band are at fault. Viacom calls out a “soft retail environment” for this. I don’t care about the money and the success of Viacom as much as I do Destructoid Editor-in-Chief Nick Chester, who will probably cry tonight because of this.
“As the leading pure-play content company, Viacom has the right portfolio of assets and the right vision to manage through this challenging climate while we continue to position ourselves for future growth,” said chief executive Summer Redstone.
Need for me to decode this? I’ll make it easy: The Beatles: Rock Band is coming on September 9th.
