A week ahead of Dead by Daylight‘s 8th anniversary stream, developer Behaviour Interactive has released a teaser trailer for the game’s next Chapter. As if having Nicholas Cage as a Survivor wasn’t enough, Dungeons & Dragons will now enter the fog.
Behaviour Interactive seems to be looking for ways to outdo itself with every subsequent brand and franchise partnership it brings to Dead by Daylight, but I think it’s hit its peak with the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons Chapter. This will see the iconic tabletop game that so many people adore, and has spawned several successful actual play series on YouTube and Twitch, enter The Entity’s domain, where its darkest horrors can terrorize Survivors relentlessly.
Dead by Daylight‘s Dungeons & Dragons Chapter will see a full reveal during its 8th anniversary livestream
The short teaser trailer for the Dungeons & Dragons Chapter for Dead by Daylight shows a Beholder trapped behind bars in what appears to be an underground dungeon. If the chapter brings one to the table, it would certainly be an apt location for a new map.
Outside of what we can see, though, there’s very little information on what the Chapter will add to Dead by Daylight. It tells us that more information will be revealed next week on May 14, 2024, during the game’s 8th anniversary livestream.
The D&D universe is absolutely colossal and filled to the brim with potential monsters and Survivors that Behaviour Interactive could adapt to its game. Given the nature of its realms and the ability players have to customize their worlds to make them unique, I think it’s an incredibly good fit for Dead by Daylight. While many of the creatures and characters we know from D&D are very physically imposing and use melee weapons, the universe also leans heavily on magic users and other specializations you’ll find in a party.
In the game’s last Chapter, All Things Wicked, Behaviour Interactive introduced a new type of Perk, Invocations. These could blend well with spellcasting or some sort of skill check, but the developer could also just bring something new to the game that’s pulled more closely from D&D’s gameplay mechanics.
I am so excited to see what this Chapter will add to Dead by Daylight. At first, I thought the two games might not fit together that easily. But when you consider the situation some D&D parties get into, being hunted in the dark by something they can hear but can’t see, it starts to sound a lot like every Trial in Dead by Daylight.
