Destiny 2 Zero Hour rewards and loot

The return of TR3-VR is the best reward of them all.

As the release of The Final Shape approaches, Bungie is keeping us well-fed with a variety of new and returning content. Similar to the Whisper of the Worm exotic questline in April, fan-favorite exotic quest Zero Hour and the Outbreak Perfected exotic pulse rifle are returning and will be available to all players in Destiny 2.

Zero Hour is considered one of the best quests in Destiny 2 history. Guardians fight their way through many Fallen enemies in the original Tower from Destiny 1. On Normal difficulty, Guardians will have 40 minutes to explore and open all of the chests hidden throughout the tower. Mobility and high burst damage will be needed if you’re wanting to challenge the Legendary difficulty which reduces the timer to 20 minutes.

Following the same schedule as previous exotic quest rotations, Zero Hero will have additional quests that are released over three weeks. Each quest will reward new upgrades for Outbreak Perfected. While details on the upgrades haven’t been fully revealed yet, Bungie confirmed in their April 2 livestream that one of them will enhance the pulse rifle’s intrinsic behavior.

Here’s everything we know about the loot and rewards from Zero Hour:

  • Normal difficulty
    • Upon first completion, Guardians will receive the Outbreak Perfected exotic pulse rifle along with its crafting pattern.
    • Each subsequent completion will award an upgrade that can be used when crafting the exotic pulse rifle
  • Legendary difficulty
    • Inherits all of the rewards from the Normal difficulty
    • Upon first Legendary completion, you’ll receive the Outbreak Perfect catalyst which adds the Disease Vector perk.
    • Each Legendary completion awards a catalyst upgrade for the weapon

Additionally, a new exotic ship known as the Vimana Junker will also be included in the reward list for Zero Hour. Details on the requirements for getting the ship haven’t been revealed yet, but unlocking the previous version of the ship required completing the three vault puzzles in the quest. It’s likely that this new version of the ship will require the same or a similar series of puzzles.
