One trio – Shifty, DiazBiffle, and Sage – dominated Warzone’s competitive scene in 2023, until the departure of Sage earlier this year. The remaining duo might have already found their third though, adding one of the most decorated players in Warzone history.
On April 11, Sage stepped away from OMiTGG and stopped competing in Warzone, leaving Shifty and DiazBiffle without a teammate despite previously winning the 2023 WSOW Global Final in dominant fashion. In Sage’s absence, the remaining duo went out and made a huge splash by landing Tommey as a potential replacement.
Tommey is currently the highest-earning Warzone player of all time, and previously spent 10 years as a professional CoD player. Last season, Tommey placed third at the 2023 WSOW Global Final, won the Stage 2 Final, and placed second in the Stage 1 Final. Looking at their stacked resumes, it should come as no surprise that this new squad found immediate success in its first official tournament.
In the Oh Mama $30,000 tournament, the trio finished second and received an extra cash prize for getting the highest kills game. Ironically, the squad that came in first was Tommey’s former teammates Almxnd and Newbz, with replacement HisokaT42.
This won’t be the last time these two stacked trios go head to head at the top of leaderboards, and it sets up a compelling rivalry moving forward. Based on previous years, the WSOW usually tends to start in June. If the competition uses the same format for 2024, and this new trio of Tommey, Biffle, and Shifty decide to stick it out, we could be in store for an electrifying head-to-head matchup on the biggest stage.
