Raven Software stepped in and nerfed the Riveter and Tonfa, after both weapons unexpectedly performed above expectations.
It’s been a busy week for the Warzone devs. On May 14, a minor update implemented measure to prevent players from firing the COR-45 IP-V2 conversion kit faster than intended. Previously Warzone players discovered questionable workarounds that made the pistol have the fastest time-to-kill speed in Warzone for short-range meta weapons. The patch also finally fixed the reload issues caused by the automatic tactical sprint and prioritize interact settings that had been plaguing the battle royale for weeks.
The devs didn’t stop there. In a second update in as many days, they dropped the hammer on two weapons, which were quietly starting to take over Warzone lobbies. According to a report from a frustrated player, the Tonfa melee weapon killed faster than any other weapon within a three-meter range. The melee weapon also allegedly gained notoriety because players would hide in smoke grenades and kill enemies without ever knowing what happened because the Combat Scout perk revealed their location.
Meanwhile, the Riveter’s destructive power flew under radars, but the shotgun could shred through enemies in close-range engagements. Despite not gaining much traction on social media or in popularity rankings, Raven Software had its finger on the pulse and responded accordingly.
