While we’ve known what Sonic X Shadow Generations is for a while, the game’s release date has been up in the air for ages. Now, thanks to Summer Game Fest 2024, we’ve got a brand new trailer and a firm release date for later this year.
The release date trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations shows off a decent chunk of gameplay, with all three hedgehogs launching themselves around various maps across multiple perspectives. The difference between them all should make it way more fun for players to smash through level after level without feeling fatigued.
Sonic X Shadow Generations release date confirmed at Summer Game Fest
The latest trailer confirms that Sonic X Shadow Generations will be released on October 25, 2024. However, anyone who pre-orders the Deluxe Edition of the game can get it three days early on October 22, 2024.
This means you can enjoy all that extra time with Modern Sonic, Classic Sonic, and Shadow before everyone else jumps in. Of course, the real draw of that edition is the extra skins you can dress the characters up in.
Anyone who pre-orders the game will receive the Sonic Adventure Legacy Skin for Modern Sonic and Gerald Robotnik’s Journal Detailing Shadow’s Creation, though it’s unclear if this second item is a physical or digital product.
Those who pre-order the Deluxe Edition will also get an additional level and skin, the Terios Skin, for Shadow, though both of those won’t launch until Holiday 2024. This edition also packs in extra skill points, a BGM Pack, a Digital Art Book and a soundtrack for fans like me who enjoy staring at concept art while listening to the sounds of our favorite games.
In Sonic X Shadow Generations, you’ll explore two unique campaigns with three protagonists. Modern and Classic Sonic characters and gameplay styles collide as Shadow joins them in an adventure that spans every corner of the world and explores Shadow’s past.
He even shows off a new ability in the trailer, which is somewhat surprising. Given his affiliation with aliens in the past, though, this ability looks strangely familiar and fits in with the lore we have on him. Maybe we’ll get all the answers we need in that pre-order bonus book for putting our money down for the game early.
