The ability to capture the magic with a photo mode in Hogwarts Legacy has been a dream for many Harry Potter fans. After a long wait, you can finally access it despite its varying quality.
How to access the Photo Mode in Hogwarts Legacy
To access the Hogwarts Legacy photo mode, you first need to download the latest patch. On PlayStation, you can do this by highlighting the game and pressing the Options button. Then, select “Check for Update.”
On Steam, right-click Hogwarts Legacy in your library, select “Properties,” then set the game to automatically update under “Updates.” It should already be updated if you’re playing the game through PlayStation Plus streaming.
Once the patch is installed, boot up the game like normal and continue your Hogwarts education. When you find a moment you want to capture like flipping a troll’s club, pause the action and get to the menu. Then, if you’re on PlayStation, press the square button. If you’re on a different platform, you can check the assigned button on the bottom right of the screen.

The Hogwarts Legacy photo mode is thorough with its options. First, the basics: you can rotate the camera with the right stick and get closer to the action with the left stick. If you want to move the camera up, press the left or right shoulder buttons. To zoom in and out, use the triggers.

If you want an otherworldly effect on the photo, chromatic aberration fringes the light around your character to alter the colours of the image.
The Hogwarts Legacy photo mode is decent to mess around with. However, the poses are when the game fails to the point of the mode being rather creepy. The facial expression of your character doesn’t change according to the pose, creating an uncanny valley-esque vibe. At least you can take pictures of you and your house-elf buddy in the Room of Requirement!
