During the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, Bethesda unveiled more information about Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC. The trailer primarily revealed promotional footage, with gameplay elements, release date information, and a surprise content drop coming the same night as the showcase’s airing.
When will Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion be released?
Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion is confirmed to release sometime in 2024, as highlighted in its official trailers and announcement posts. While no exact date was revealed, we can anticipate it coming sometime during Fall 2024 or between September and December. Considering Starfield’s release date of September 2023, it would be fitting for its first major expansion to launch a year later.
Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion will become available sometime in 2024 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, allowing both PC and console players to access it. Anyone who purchased Premium or Constellation Edition will automatically have access to Shattered Space upon release, while those with Standard Edition will have to purchase it separately.
The Shattered Space expansion features an entirely new world and storyline set on House Va’Ruun’s hidden homeworld. With horror-like aspects thrown into the mix, we’ll get to experience more than just your standard set of planet exploration missions.
All new content coming to Starfield
The trailer also highlights new content released on the night of June 9, 2024. Tonight’s upcoming in-game features primarily expand on the Tracker’s Alliance, including new travel locations, gear, and bounties to explore.
The update also includes new custom content that introduces the Creation Kit, allowing access to official Bethesda-supported tools to make modding easier. While previously accessible for Elder Scrolls and Fallout players, the Creation Kit is now available for Starfield modders, too. Although there’s more coming in the update, much of it is left as a surprise for players to discover upon launch.
