The game offers different game modes – some of them put you against AI, while the rest involves matchmaking with other human opponents. This is one of the main determinants of whether you can change the match length or not in a round of EA FC 24.
Which EA FC 24 modes allow you to change match length?
Basically, any game mode where you play against the AI usually lets you change the match length. It’s important to understand that EA Sports allows you to keep halves as low as two minutes and crank them up all the way to make them longer.

Which EA FC 24 modes don’t allow you to change match length?
Almost any match that takes place with human opponents in a competitive setting has fixed durations. This includes all matches in the Ultimate Team mode. You can’t change half lengths of Squad Battles, but EA Sports has made them shorter this year (compared to previous occasions).
However, all matches in Division Rivals and Champions Finals (and Playoffs) have a universal duration, and it’s not possible to tweak it. The matches usually consist of 6-minute halves unless someone quits prematurely.
Although online friendlies take place between human players, it’s possible sometimes to change the half lengths. This is applicable for both Kickoff friendlies and Ultimate Team friendlies (pre-made matchups). In Ultimate Team, certain friendly modes don’t allow pre-made matchmaking, and EA Sports decides the durations of those matches.
While match lengths aren’t entirely flexible in EA FC 24, EA Sports has improved the situation. The decision to shorten Squad Battles is brilliant since those matches take place against AI. However, there are rumors that the developers could offer more tweaking in EA FC 25 when that game goes live in the future.
