A LostWinds sequel had been rumored ever since the game’s fantastic success at the launch of WiiWare. We hadn’t heard much but we assumed it was a go and now we have confirmation with a new article in EDGE revealing that the game is coming and will indeed involve more wind. The game will be called LostWinds: Winter of Melodias and will once again be a WiiWare game.
This time around it looks like the devs have heard the few complaints that were leveled at the original game, especially about its length, and will be dealing with them in this game. The game will deal with seasonal changes and Toku will be able to change the seasons, switching between summer and winter in order to solve various puzzles. It sounds like it’s going to be very interesting with plenty of new abilities (like a cyclone drill) and a bit more story behind it. Also good to hear is that the devs are hoping to use plenty of new ideas in the game as they’re quoted as saying the first game was great, but they’ve got plenty more juice in their tank. No release date yet, but we have to imagine it’ll be here this year.
Writing this reminds me that I never played LostWinds and now I really want to — so I’m going to. Go away, it’s alone time now, I’m gonna play with my Wii.
