As of a summer update on June 6, 2024, Hogwarts Legacy has some new brooms to collect. One broom, Lavender Borealis, is automatically unlocked for every player who starts up Hogwarts Legacy after the update. The other, called Dark Lightning, is a surprise, unannounced addition to the game. Here’s how to obtain the Dark Lightning broom in Hogwarts Legacy.
Acquiring the Dark Lightning broom appears to be a bit buggy for some players. At first, it didn’t appear for me either. I’ve compiled some troubleshooting suggestions below, including the method that worked for me.
Buy the Dark Lightning broom from Albie Weekes
Head to the Spintwitches shop in Hogsmeade. It’s near the southernmost Floo Flame in Hogsmeade. Albie Weekes should have the Dark Lightning broom for sale for 2,000 gold.
If Albie Weekes does not have the Dark Lightning broom for sale, check to see if you’ve completed the Haunted Hogsmeade Store quest. If “Minding Your Own Business” is indeed in your completed quests list, try restarting your game or console, or just keep playing and check back at Spintwitches later.
Complete the Haunted Hogsmeade Store quest
I needed to do the Haunted Hogsmeade Store quest before the Dark Lightning broom appeared in Spintwitches. This quest was previously exclusive to the PlayStation platform, but as of the summer update it’s available for players on all platforms. Start the quest by talking to Penny the house-elf near the southern Floo Flame in Hogsmeade. She should be sweeping the street in front of a boarded-up shop.
Once you’ve talked to Penny, the quest will appear in your log as “Minding Your Own Business.” The full quest should take about an hour to complete. I recommend doing the full quest in one play session. I had issues when I tried to save in the middle of it, then load my save later.
After finishing the quest, check back with Albie Weekes in Spintwitches. Hopefully, completing the quest made the Dark Lightning broom appear in your shop.
