Wired’s Chris Kohler has worked some magic, coercing from a high-level Harmonix source information that you’re not supposed to know about the future of the Rock Band series… one day before Guitar Hero 5 hits shelves! Oh no!
Well, it’s a lot of good (allegedly true) news for fans of those music games with the plastic instruments. For one, the tracks that will be featured in the upcoming LEGO Rock Band will be exportable to your hard drive so you can play them in your main Rock Band set list. There’s said to be a fee attached, but if it’s anything like the “licensing fee” associated with moving your Rock Band 1 tracks to your hard drive to play in Rock Band 2, we don’t expect it’ll break the bank.
You may also like to know that Queen’s “Under Pressure” (which appears in Guitar Hero 5) will be available as downloadable content, along with nine more Queen tracks (holy crap?). Two Queen songs will allegedly appear in LEGO Rock Band — “We are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You.” Also of note are White Stripes and Raconteurs tracks all of which will be available as DLC by year’s end.
The information comes from what Wired says is a “competitive analysis,” an internal “anything they can do, we can do better” spreadsheet of sorts. We did our own competitive analysis a few weeks back, and your choice was clear. You can see the full list at Wired.
