The Wii has earned a reputation as a beacon for some of the laziest shovelware ever to be thrown at a game system. It’s not really Nintendo’s fault, but the fault of third party hacks who are using the Wii’s popularity and the general intelligence of the mainstream public to mass produce crap for everyone’s favorite white box o’ waggle. However, according to analyst firm EEDAR, things are getting better.
EEDAR used the most trustworthy and incontrovertible proof there is — review scores — to show that quality on the Wii is improving. Looking at the numbers on the above fancy chart, you can see that Xbox 360 and PS3 games have been earning consistent review scores from 2008 to 2009. The Wii, meanwhile, has seen a dramatic rise in numbers over the past year, although its games still aren’t getting the same averages as the other consoles.
Of course, review scores don’t really prove anything, but fanboys cling to them like limpets. They’re sure to be thrilled by the news that the Wii is getting games almost as good as Xbox 360 and PS3 ones. Hooray!
