Poor EyePet. When we had a chance to meet Sony’s digital animal-monster-thing at Penny Arcade Expo, Sony had told us it would be available this holiday. We cleared off our coffee table, prepared a bed, and nixed the idea of getting another cat for the office.
But according to GameStop, both the EyePet standalone software and the EyeToy bundle won’t see release until April 6, 2010. Originally, the retailer had listed the little critter for the officially announced November release, but suddenly changed that late last week. It should be noted that this may apply to North America only; EyePet should be shipping to Europe in late October, and near-final code that has been sent to European press seems to support this.
We reached out to Sony last week for comment, and are still waiting back for the final word. In the meantime, we understand that cleaning litter isn’t the most glamorous thing in the world, but might we recommend a kitten this holiday season?
