Lewis Carroll + Gorillaz + Warioware = Record Tripping

Cool.

As much as I’m a fan of straining weird analogies, there isn’t a single one to be found in this post’s title: Record Tripping is quite literally (A) made up of minigames, (B) set to a simultaneous soundtrack of Gorillaz backbeats and an audiobook recording of Alice in Wonderland, and (C) controlled almost entirely using the mousewheel.

While scrolling up or down alters some part of the game world (turning the dial on a safe, for example), it also turns the player into a DJ of children’s literature. Every upward or downward scroll jumps the audio recording forward or backward, resulting in inexplicably awesome moments where, while trying to guide a plant seed into a pot of soil, you’ll hear a posh-sounding woman inadvertently become part of a techno remix. At times it feels like Frontier Psychiatrist: The Game, and that’s definitely a good thing.

Play it here.
