Finally! A bunch of Sega Genesis games are hitting Steam

While everyone has undoubtedly gotten their fill of Sega Genesis compilation discs by now, today’s announcement from Sega shows us that it’s never too late for old-school games to get in on the sweet digital distribution action.

On June 1, Steam and other unnamed download outlets are getting the following titles: Altered Beast, Comix Zone, Crack Down, Ecco the Dolphin, Gain Ground, Golden Axe, Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi, Sonic 3D Blast, Space Harrier II, and Vectorman. At $2.99 a pop, you don’t have to feel too terrible about getting a few of these.

It’s bizarre to me that Sega is only now doing this, although a lot of what the company does these days has me feeling the same way. At any rate, I still think they ought put their entire library of Genesis/Arcade titles out on, say, iPhone and charge like $.99 per game. No one could resist Ristar at that price. No one.
