If there’s one game to be nervously excited about, it’s Batman: Arkham Asylum 2. For every negative from the original game Rocksteady can potentially address in the sequel, there’s the lingering fear that what made the first so special won’t necessarily work a second time.
It’s been awfully quiet on this front for a while now, so to make up for the silence, Mark Hamill has got your back with some thought-provoking statements. Talking with IGN at the Cannes Film Festival, he spoke of his hesitance to voice The Joker in Arkham Asylum 2.
“My answer to [Rocksteady] for the sequel was, ‘Guys, we’re never going to be able to top the original.’ I wanted to be able to say I’d gone out on a high note.” What convinced him, then? Hamill wouldn’t say, thanks to a lovingly crafted NDA.
What he was able to reveal, though, could mean a number of things: “This will be my last, there’s no question about that. But it’s the last hurrah.” It remains to be seen how Rocksteady will wrap up Joker’s story in this universe, if at all. Speculate away!
