The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority has continued its commitment to banning ads for stupid reasons, removing a PlayStation Move ad after a mere eight complaints. The ad promotes The Fight, and has been removed because it may “condone or encourage violent behavior.”
The poster shows a man holding another in a headlock, swinging a punch in his direction. Because one man is white and the other is black, two of the idiot complainers went so far as to call the bloody thing racist. Apparently a white man has never hit a black man for anything but racial situations.
While the ASA didn’t hold up the racism complaint, it did accept the violence ones. So, with only eight people actually registering any sort of offense, the ad is getting removed from British streets. That’ll definitely stop all crime in Britain.
This isn’t the first time the ASA has done this. A Burnout Dominator ad was banned after 37 complaints, and an online PS3 ad was removed after 23 people whined, and a Stranglehold TV spot was axed with only two complaints being made known to the public. To be fair, the ASA didn’t uphold complaints about a Heavy Rain advert, so at least there’s that.
Nevertheless, we now know that Britain has at least eight wankers in it. Oh wait, we already knew that.
