Movie site First Showing is reporting that there’s a Zombies Ate My Neighbors film in development. And yes, it’s based on the LucasArts-developed 16-bit, cooperative shooter. Of course.
The flick is being described as a horror comedy, or more specifically, “John Hughes meets Judd Apatow meets George A. Romero.” While the script will likely borrow the game’s title and its characters, Zeke and Julie, it’s said to be more of a “coming-of-age high school story.” Of course.
Don’t get too excited just yet, though. The project is apparently in the works as a independent production, with the filmmakers still working to secure the rights. There’s a strong chance Zombies Ate My Neighbors will never make it to the big screen, but if it does, I’ll be at the midnight showing. Of course.
