‘Home stretch’
It’s almost time to go back to the farm to chiiillllllll. It won’t be a whole lot longer until we can reap what Eric Barone has sown.
After spending most of 2020 working on Stardew Valley‘s massive 1.5 update, Barone says it’s nearly ready. Everything is in the “home stretch” as the update is content complete, and there’s only some bug-squashing and polishing left:
the 1.5 update is in the “home stretch”, it’s a very big update so there is a lot of polishing and bug fixing necessary to make sure it’s ready. It’ll be very fun to share it with all of you in the near future. I think you’ll be really happy and surprised with all the new stuff!

We’ve been covering the impending 1.5 for nine months now, and it’s almost time for this baby to hatch. Here’s some of the stuff that’s expected:
- Local split-screen cooperative play
- Significant end-game content
- The ability to move your bed!
- Banana trees
- Swimming ducks

I love the balance of huge game-altering changes and silly little things that get people excited. It’s a testament both to Barone’s years of hard work and how much fans adore this game.
There’s certainly more than just those bullet points coming in update 1.5. What else will have to remain a mystery for now. We won’t have to wait too long for it to clear up, though.
