Alan Wake visiting Europe sooner than expected

I’m happy that I get to write this story because I love our European readers and it makes me really sad every time I have to write a story about a game that isn’t coming out there. Or that a game is going to be coming out three months after everyone else gets to play. Or that North America and Japan are getting cool pre-order bonuses but Europe receives jack sh*t. How is it that, despite having the biggest games show in the world, you’re still treated like this industry’s redheaded stepchild?

No matter because today I have good news for a change. We got a press release here that states Alan Wake will release for Xbox 360 in Europe on May 14th instead of My 21st as originally scheduled. Isn’t that exciting? Hell, you’re going to get it before I can in the US! Now I get to have the experience of being jealous of Europe in the only way that truly matters: The availability of digital entertainment.

ALAN WAKE STEPS INTO THE LIGHT EARLY IN EUROPE

The psychological action thriller, exclusive to Xbox 360, will be in stores across Europe from 14th May

LONDON – 7 April 2010 – Microsoft is delighted to announce that Alan Wake will be hitting stores across Europe on Friday 14th May – a full week ahead of its original release date.

“Fans in Europe have been crying out to get their hands on Alan Wake since it was first announced and we’re thrilled to be able to deliver it to them early,” said Stephen McGill, Director of Xbox & Entertainment.

In this long-awaited title, exclusive to Xbox 360, players assume the role of Alan Wake, a best-selling crime writer suffering from writer’s block, who escapes to a small town only to experience the mysterious disappearance of his wife. An intense psychological thriller from Remedy, the creators of Max Payne, Alan Wake looks to raise the bar for future games, creating a true cinematic experience.

Rated BBFC 15, Alan Wake will be available for an estimated retail price of £49.99.
