Toy Story 3 is two games in one. On top of the story mode, the Avalanche developed title will have a mode called “Toy Box” that lets you be a kid all over again. “Toy Box” allows you do to whatever you want, whenever you want. You’ll play as Woody, Buzz or Jessie as you help citizens in the Western themed town of Woody’s Roundup.
As you play through “Toy Box,” you’ll be able to take on missions which in turn will net you gold. With that gold you’ll be able to buy an assortment of new items and buildings to place in your town. Everything is customizable, and you can choose everything from the colors of a building to giving a citizen a new hair style. Other unlocks will include vehicles, Bullseye the horse, new playsets like Sid’s haunted house and the evil Zurg himself (exclusive to the PS3 version).
Toy Story 3’s target audience is kids, but “Toy Box” mode is fun for all ages. I had a blast just picking people up and drop kicking them around. I was also abusing citizens by throwing balls constantly at their faces. My favorite part of “Toy Box” mode though is the shrink/enlarger machine. First thing you should do is use the enlarger goo on Bullseye and then ride him around.
“Toy Box” mode offers over 300 missions ranging from giving a character a haircut to racing with Bullseye around the town. There’s a lot to do here and this is just half of the Toy Story 3 package.
