A black 3DS XL could be coming to North America

Once you go black…

My blue 3DS XL looks like sh*t. It has scratches and gouges on the top, back and all sides. The inside is fine (yay for clamshell designs), but the rest looks like I get in regular car wrecks or fight with zoo cats or something. I wish Nintendo would have kept the lovely metallic gloss colors of the standard 3DS for the XL systems. They hold up better, I think.

The next best thing? How about a black 3DS XL. I’d buy one right now if they were available. According to a Canadian store flyer shown on GoNintendo, they should be available today. Canada? That’s North America — and what they get we get down here in the Land of the Free.

The store has since said that the picture was shown in error. Right. That’s what they always say. And what about the black 3DS IGN spotted in the Mario & Luigi: Dream Team commercial?

Finally, while it’s not North America, a UK Amazon listing shows a standalone system release. This is notable because this was only available outside Japan in European bundles.

I’m a glass half-full guy. I’m also a current-system-totally-looks-like-sh*t guy. I hope this one is coming to us.
