Activision conference call reveals Metallica song in GH III and more

While the rest of the Internet was busy having a heart attack over the delay of Grand Theft Auto IV, Shacknews’ Chris Faylor was being all responsible and listening in on an Activision conference call. The call, which focused mainly on the company’s Q1 financial results (hint: they made a lot of money), also revealed a few interesting tidbits regarding some upcoming titles.

Quickly mentioned was the inclusion of a Metallica track appearing in Guitar Hero III, as well as plans to bring songs from the first two games to the title (possibly through downloadable content). Activision also revealed that Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s for the PlayStation 2 had the highest first day sell-through of any Guitar Hero title to date; this news comes despite the fact that the game received lacklucster reviews, many of which slammed the game’s $49.99 pricepoint.

Also revealed were plans for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live demos for Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, as well as high hopes for upcoming licensed titles including a new James Bond game, two unannounced superhero titles, and games based off of Dreamworks films that no one who reads Destructoid cares about.

OK, fine — it’s Madagascar 2 and Kung-Fu Panda. God.
