You can never have enough Gnosticism
Hey, do you remember Aeon Flux? If you’re under the age of 25, probably not.
Released back on MTV in the Liquid Television days, Aeon Flux was an animated series that was full of violence, sex, and all around weirdness. The first season was composed of six five minute shorts, but the second and third seasons had 15 half-hour episodes between the two seasons. It’s not for everyone, but it’s a fairly good time if you can wrap your mind around the mature and bizarre content. It also had a live-action movie, but we don’t talk about that.
Speaking of live-action, it turns out that Aeon Flux is going to be revived for a live-action TV series! Attached to the show are Jeff Davis, the current showrunner of Teen Wolf, and Gale Anne Hurd, who works on The Walking Dead and was one of the producers of the 2005 movie. No casting has been announced, but it is confirmed that it will appear on MTV.
I’m happy to see that MTV is going back to its roots with Aeon Flux in a way, and I hope this opens up the door for a return of other Liquid Television segments. Beavis and Butthead got their start on Liquid Television, and I think I’d be pretty surreal to see the two of them on TV again, animated or otherwise.
