Afrika is making its way to North America

Hakuna Matata, bitches! The PS3’s candid animal photography game, Afrika, has been stuck in Japan for far too long. We here in the West have been begging to take photographs of zebras for well over a year, with neither Sony nor National Geographic taking the required steps to make our dreams come true. Enter new publisher Natsume, and the news that Afrika is finally coming to North America.

In case you did not know, Afrika is like Pokémon Snap‘s more grown-up brother. Rather than take sordid shots of nude Pikachus, players have to go out into the wilds of Africa and snap pics of more realistic wildlife. Budding photojournalists will receive emails at base camp, telling them which creatures to find, then they must use the Sixaxis’ motion controller to aim the camera. Players will earn money which can be used to upgrade the camera.

No word on a release date yet, but it’s definitely coming. Makes a nice change from all the shooting games we’ve had lately, so it should come as a breath of fresh air.
