A conglomerate of indie game developers appears to have come up with something known only as the “Triple-I Initiative,” with an appropriately befuddling website to go along with it. All cheekiness aside, the Triple-I Initiative seems to have some serious talent behind it, and an announcement is coming soon.
More specifically, the mysterious Triple-I Initiative website describes itself as a “mysterious teasing page by the studios behind… Darkest Dungeon, Risk of Rain, Slay the Spire, Vampire Survivors, V Rising & many others.” Aside from a stylized slideshow featuring bullshots from the aforementioned games, the website also hosts a “NEXT ANNOUNCEMENT” timer counting down until March 28/29. It’s unclear what this is counting down to, of course, short of it being an announcement of some sort, but it sure is interesting to theorize about.
The Triple-I initiative is still a big question mark for now
The obvious implication, all things considered, is that the Triple-I Initiative’s name is a bit of a spoof of the arguable pinnacle of the industry, the AAA games. As the Initiative packs some serious punch, having seemingly enlisted some of the most popular indie darlings of all time, it does make sense why the conglomerate would label itself III, if it was supposed to provide a concise and targeted marketing push for games of this caliber.
That being said, we know virtually nothing about the Triple-I Initiative at this time, and until some more official information is available, we’ll need to wait and see how the site’s next announcement pans out. With just over 15 days to go before what looks like III’s first potential game announcement drops in, it shouldn’t be too long before we get to learn what this is all about, and what the actual purpose of Triple-I might be.
