Yep, it still looks great
Live at Summer Game Fest 2023, Remedy Entertainment game director Sam Lake took the stage to give us the elevator pitch for Alan Wake 2: one of the least necessary pitches of the modern gaming landscape. Alan Wake 2 looks fantastic so far, but at the very least, we got an actual look at gameplay today. On stage, Keighty reminds Lake that the game was teased at The Game Awards in 2021 for a “2023” release. Well, it’s 2023, and it already has a date: now we know what it actually looks like.
This is “early on” in the game, Lake confirms (in case you were worried about spoilers!), and Keighley calls it “raw unedited” footage. Saga (who has a pistol with a capacity of 12 rounds in the trailer sequence) is the core focus, as they walk up and enter an extremely creepy house, fighting off enemies in the process. There will be a “50/50 split” between the two main characters (Alan Wake and Saga Anderson), Lake says, and you can swap between them at “given points” in the story.
Alan Wake 2 is still due out on October 17, 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
