There is a heap of collectibles to locate and gather like a dragon’s hoard in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The collections can reward experience points, Spider-Man 2 trophies, and a new suit. But the hunt for them offers a little something else.
The collections you can search for in Spider-Man 2 open up the game’s world as few of its other side stories can. ‘Marko’s Memories’ is a collection side story that provides a deeper, more intimate look at the tortured series antagonist, Sandman. ‘Mysterium Dev Diaries’ shines a light on a villain who yearns for new purpose and recognition. And one other lets you experience New York life unseen from high up in the air. The rewards are nice, sure, but your investment pays off by giving you a chance to truly dive into the game’s world.
There are four different collections to obtain in Spider-Man 2. You can look at your progress by going to the menu and navigating to the ‘Collections’ tab.
How to get all Spider-Man 2 collectibles and what they unlock
Marko’s Memories
Your first set of collectibles is Marko’s Memories, which unlocks after the first mission. Flint Marko, aka Sandman, acts as the game’s first “boss fight,” which really was more of a gameplay tutorial than anything. Still, something is clearly wrong with the guy. For this side story, you must collect 14 memory crystals scattered throughout the city. You can see them on the map as orange crystals. Collecting the first 13 unlocks the final one in Downtown Brooklyn. Activating it begins the ‘Remember’ side story.

- 2,000 XP
- 20 City Tokens
- Grains of Sand trophy
Photo Ops
It’s time to brush off Peter’s old photography skills with the Photo Ops collectibles side story, called ‘Show Me New York’, in Spider-Man 2. Photo Ops unlocks after you complete the ‘One Thing At A Time’ main story mission. The goal is to send photos of hidden New York life to Robbie Robertson. There are 23 photos in total, with locations that appear as light-blue camera icons on the map. You need to find what exactly the game wants you to take a photo of, as well as the correct angle.
For every location and angle in Photo Ops, be sure to hit up our guide.
Photo Ops final mission rewards:
- Five City Tokens
- 1,000 XP
- New York, New York trophy
Mysterium Dev Diaries
The Mysterium locations unlock after you complete the main story mission, ‘Master Illusionist.’ Afterward, you can complete nine and a final tenth location as Miles Morales. These are combat arenas, challenging you to complete each one under a certain parameter: Don’t get hit, enemies must be knocked off ledges, etc. Completing a Mysterium location rewards a Mysterium Dev Diary, which provides a deeper insight into the post-villain life of Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio, and the hill he’s attempting to climb as a regular citizen with a dark past. The final Mysterium location awards in a new suit on completion.
Be sure to check out our Mysterium location guide and mini-walkthrough for more on the side story.

- 500 Tech Parts
- 2,000 XP

Spider-Bots
Unlike the other collectibles in this list, finding all the Spider-Bots in Spider-Man 2 is much more challenging. There are 42 of the buggers, and they don’t show up on the overworld map. But they do reward something special for longtime Spider-Man fans, even if it’s brief and maybe not all that clear. Spider-Bots won’t appear in the game until you finish the main story mission, ‘Science Buddy’. The way to find them is by spotting the large, pulsating purple spheres they emit as you draw close. Later in the game, you can unlock the ‘All Seeing’ Suit Tech upgrade which makes Spider-Bots appear on the Spider-Man 2 mini-map.
A new side story, ‘The Message’, appears in Chinatown once you get every Spider-Bot. It provides a brief, but clear nod toward the Spider-Verse animated films, and may even hint at what’s next for the series.
