The Heroes and their voices
After a long wait, Final Fantasy XVI has officially dropped, and it makes a lot of deviations from what fans have come to expect from the franchise. For example, the English voice acting and facial motion capture was done first, with the Japanese dub coming afterward. The game manages this change well, as it features a packed cast list and some very talented voice actors.
Main Cast List and Voice Actors in Final Fantasy XVI
Final Fantasy XVI has a large cast, though it manages to give most characters the depth they deserve. This is aided by the fantastic voice acting that helps to cement the medieval atmosphere. The main cast of FF16 is as follows:
Clive Rosfield
Clive, sometimes called Wyvern, is the game’s protagonist and the protector of the phoenix. He is voiced by Ben Starr, who is known for his role in British television shows such as Doctors and The Musketeers. According to the game’s localization director, Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, Starr originally auditioned for a minor role in the intro but was eventually given the far more central role thanks to his fantastic performance.
Joshua Rosfield
Joshua, who is Clive’s younger brother, also plays a pivotal role in the game. He is voiced by Logan Hannan, who is no stranger to the world of gaming, as he has also lent his talents to Hogwarts Legacy, and A Plague Tale.
Jill Warrick
Jill, the Dominant of Shiva, has her life turn for the worst when she is separated from the Rosfields. She has two voice actors. Her child version is voiced by Charlotte McBurney, while her adult version is voiced by Forza Horizon‘s Susannah Fielding.

The phenomenal voice acting perfectly complements the gorgeous world of Valisthea. It also makes the narrative even more immersive by ensuring the characters are always believably expressive. Though FF16‘s break from traditions may leave some longtime fans a little disoriented, the latest entry demonstrates that experimentation is certainly being done in the right direction.
