Cult of the Lamb’s next big update sees it crossing over with the indie megahit Don’t Starve Together. It’s a great fit in many ways. Both games include a dark-yet-cute aesthetic, and they both have an art style that depicts 2D objects in a flat, 3D world.
The main thing to know is that in order to access the new content, you’ll need to recruit Webber, who was a playable character in Don’t Starve. To get Webber, you’ll need to kill spiders in your base. While crushing spiders, there’s a chance for a skull to appear. If you bury this skull in a grave, Webber will appear as a follower.
Recruiting Webber unlocks new decor for your compound. These items will be familiar to anyone who played Don’t Starve, and are as follows:
- Alchemy Engine
- Deerclops Figure
- Marble Tree
- Pig Head Flag
- Science Machine
- Potted Treeguard
- Hay Wall
Recruiting Webber also unlocks Penitence Mode, which becomes available when starting a new game. This is a modifier that adds features inspired by Don’t Starve. Specifically, this adds hunger, sleep, and shackles you to permanent death to make them really mean something. This means that, when you get hungry or sleepy, you’ll need to return your lamb back to camp to rest and grab something to eat. If you’re in the middle of a crusade, you may have to abandon your progress (and some of your collected resources) to return quickly for a snack.
Finally, a quickstart mode has been added, as well as some new songs for the Cult of the Lamb soundtrack.
