Angry Birds franchise hits 500 million downloads

Aren’t we tired of this game yet? I see it everywhere. I knew it would be a huge thing early last year when I saw my young niece playing it. Her grandma heard the music and knew what game she was playing. Now, aside from being on every portable device, it’s a movie, it’s on television, in commercials, in the checkout asile at grocery stores, and even on t-shirts. It’s just a physics-based flinger, people — there’s a lot of these out there!

Half a billion served is where we stand with Rovio’s casual title. It’s just like McDonald’s hamburgers, and I have no idea why people continue to enjoy either one of them! I mean, get this: 300 million minutes of Angry Birds are played daily

A post on Gamasutra gives more crazy statistics:

  • 400 billion birds have been launched
  • 266 billion levels have been played
  • 44 billion stars have been collected
  • 200,000 years of the game have been played altogether

Mind. Blown.
