Another Steam Deck rival is on the horizon in the guise of the Ayaneo KUN

You’ve got a spare $1,000, right?

While the Steam Deck currently dominates the mobile PC gaming world, competitors are gunning for a slice of the action. In addition to the ASUS ROG Ally and the rumored Lenovo Legion GO, there’s now another device on the horizon. This one comes to us from Ayaneo.

The relatively new Chinese company has already offered its own Steam Deck rivals in the guide of some Ayaneo portable devices, and now a new one called Ayaneo KUN is on the way soon. Over on the company’s Indiegogo page (thanks, GamesRadar+), the KUN looks to be a veritable powerhouse.

With a “super large” 1600p screen, an AMD Ryzen 7 APU, a beastly battery, and loads of touch features, it could find a place in this emerging handheld market.

With great power comes great cost

Currently, the Ayaneo KUN is expected to arrive in October. According to GamesRadar+, you can expect to pay at least $999 for it. However, with that extra cost, you’ll get a lot more power compared to the Steam Deck.

The starting option comes with 512GB of storage. Meanwhile, the priciest model (which could set you back at least $1,700) will boast 4TB of storage and 64GB of RAM. That’s quite the beefy machine when stacked up against Valve’s system.

With a 75Wh battery as well, it sounds like a portable PC that could topple the Deck. But that price tag presents a much steeper barrier to entry.

It looks like we’re about to see an influx of mobile gaming devices. Valve will need to be diligent to stay on top.
