Mortal Kombat X tops all software
According to April’s NPD numbers, the Xbox One proved it has some legs as it claimed the top spot for the month’s console sales by knocking the PlayStation 4 down a notch. While Sony may be leading the console race overall and worldwide, the Xbox One needs a month like this to continue to stay relevant and build its base brick by brick.
Here is what Microsoft’s marketing had to say via Mike Nichols, corporate vice president of Xbox Marketing:
Xbox One console sales in the U.S. increased 63 percent in April 2015 compared to April 2014 and Xbox Live comparisons showed the number of active global users (Xbox One and Xbox 360) grew 24 percent.
As for the software side of things, NPD reported that Mortal Kombat X led all game sales for April. Below is a breakdown of the month’s top ten (note that Bloodborne was bounced and Dark Souls II snuck itself in):
- Mortal Kombat X (PS4, Xbox One)
- Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, Xbox One, PC, 360, PS3)
- Battlefield: Hardline (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)
- MLB 15: The Show (PS4, PS3)
- Minecraft (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4)
- NBA 2K15 (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)
- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)
- Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3)
- Super Smash Bros. (3DS, Wii U)
