It’ll be out with its first expansion on December 6
I was under the impression Studio Wildcard couldn’t bring Ark: Survival Evolved to PlayStation 4 until the game was further along (it’s still in an early-access phase on Steam and Xbox One), but it sounds like its current state is sufficient for Sony. Ark is coming to PS4 on December 6, 2016.
The online dinosaur survival game is launching with the “Ark: Survivor’s Pack,” a $54.99 bundle that has the core title and its blistering desert expansion Scorched Earth. And a Bionic Giganotosaurus. Can’t forget about that! There’s a curious note on pricing, too: European players will have the option to buy Ark (€34.99) and the expansion (€19.99) separately. “Unfortunately, we were not able to release the content as two standalone items for the North American regions, until Spring 2017,” wrote Wildcard.
PS4 players “will also receive a constant stream of major updates packed with new dinosaurs, weapons, armor, mechanics, and lifestyle improvements, until it releases as a final product in Spring 2017.”
I’m willing to make exceptions for unfinished games, but not for this one (though the Monster Factory episode with “Angela Lansbury” almost roped me into an impulsive early purchase).
