Ever since it let the Operation Flashpoint license rot in Codemasters’ hands, Bohemia Interactive has been wowing the world of military sims with the ArmA 2 series. So it makes perfect sense to follow that up with… a helicopter game: Take On Helicopters. It even features a story!
“Harry Larkin’s aviation business has fallen on tough times. Built up over decades, it’s now only days away from closure. His sons face an uncertain future, struggling to save the company their father spent his whole life building. Together, they must take on contracts and competitors; together, they take on helicopters!”
You can’t make that up. Take On Helicopters features the ArmA 2 engine for shiny graphics, a sandbox style campaign, co-op and competitive multiplayer, and it should be accessible enough to anyone who doesn’t fly helicopters for a living. I’m intrigued, and some combat helicopters would probably seal the deal although it doesn’t seem like that kind of game.
