Claymation lives on Nintendo if stretch goal met!
Armikrog, touted as the “spiritual successor” to the classic claymation adventure The Neverhood, has announced its first Kickstarter stretch goal that, if reached, will bring the game to the Wii U eShop.
For those who’ve already contributed to a tier that includes a digital copy of the game, nothing else is needed, as the Wii U version will be added to the list of available platform choices (PC, Mac, and Linux) once the campaign is completed. Additionally, all backers will receive an animated short telling the origin story of main characters Tommynaut and Beak-Beak.
With just four days to go, the new goal of $950,000 may seem a little lofty since the Kickstarter currently sits more than $250,000 short of its initial goal of $900,000.
Hopefully this Wii U announcement is just the kick their campaign needs to get over the hump and funded. The team at Pencil Test Studios exudes a love for a style a game that doesn’t come around very often — check out this recent interview they did for a better understanding — and it would be a real shame if it didn’t come to fruition.
At the very least, they do have some neat ideas for the Wii U gamepad. Claymation must live on!
