Become as final bosses
On Friday, the official Twitter account for ARMS posted a new tweet featuring a never-before-seen item. Initially showing off a fiery cage, one of the Helix clones from the game’s 1 v 100 mode punches it a couple times, cracking it open to reveal the spoils within. A familiar mask floats where the cage once was, and it reaches out with its fist.
The helmet quickly takes over the clone, and becomes Hedlok, the true final boss of the game’s Grand Prix and 1 v 100 modes.
でもワタクシもちょっと試してみてぇー! pic.twitter.com/aKpXfPHYG5— ARMS(アームズ) (@ARMS_Cobutter) July 8, 2017
At this time, it’s unknown if this new item will appear in the upcoming Max Brass update on July 12, or if it’s planned for a later date. It’s also not known if it’s possibly its own separate mode, forming a sort of King of the Hill or Golden Gun mode variant. However, the fact that there is more support coming in the form of potential new modes and items is fantastic, as the item variety in the game could use a little improvement, and more modes are always welcome.
In related news, last week the Twitter account also shared a little glimpse into the background of Helix’s home stage, the DNA Lab. Normally hidden away during normal gameplay, it is revealed that a partially assembled Hedlok is there in a test tube, with tubes sticking out from multiple places. I love it, as I’m a sucker for little details like that.
見つけちゃいました!ラボの暗がりの奥に…出たあ!
結局、コイツ何のために作られてたんでしょう?何にしてもラボには管理を徹底してもらわないと!

Personally, I do hope Nintendo considers some type of story update down the road. It would be nice to have the characters fleshed out a bit more, and to find out more about the bizarre Hedlok in the game itself, rather than having to refer to social media accounts for all of this.
