Just like in Brokeback Mountain, the two buddies in Army of Two just can’t quit each other. In addition to an upcoming sequel to the game, it looks as though a movie incarnation is on the horizon. Variety is reporting that the film adaptation of the game will begin production in 2009 with none other than Scott Burns of The Bourne Ultimatum fame penning the script.
Burns said he wanted to write the movie because he found the “ambiguity” of “private military corporations lend [sic] weight to an intelligent thriller with relevance to what’s going on in the world right now.” In other words, everything that Army of Two didn’t do with its story.
Burns didn’t comment if there would be scatterbrained enemies, clipping issues, or an awkward amount of fist bumps in the film. Another interesting note is that EA is co-producing the movie, which is a first for the mega-publisher.
