The “Bundesverband Interaktive Unterhaltungssoftware” (or “Federal Association of interactive Entertainment Software”) has a yearly award for the best selling games on the German market of the past 12 months. The awards are split up into several different categories. A Gold award for 100k units sold on a single platform, a Platin award for those reaching 200k, a Special award for the few that reach 500k and last but not least a multi-platform award that goes to the game that reaches more than a million units sold on several platforms.
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood won big as it got the gold and multi-platform award and marks it as one of the best selling games in Germany for the past year. Additional Gold award winners include Civilization V, Command & Conquer 4 and Crysis 2. Platin winners include Art Academy, Donkey Kong Country Returns and FIFA 11. The Special award goes to Grant Turismo 5, StarCraft II and Wii Party. Come on, you would have been surprised if there wasn’t a Wii mini-game collection in there!
