Beamdog’s re-release of the classic Baldur’s Gate is going to house some paid downloadable content, according to studio boss Trent Oster. Before we light our petrol bombs and prepare to march, however, fans have been told that the content will be significant and totally fresh.
“We’ll be doing free feature improvements and existing content improvements as we go, but we are also planning some paid DLC,” said Oster on Twitter. “We would never DLC existing content. Any DLC content we plan to sell will be all new.
“DLC = Downloadable Content, not furry earrings +3. The big guys have overcooked the term with badness. New BG storylines, New characters.”
He also said that game updates would arrive via an update/launcher to automatically push improvements to the game. But that’s not important because DLC BOOOOO DLC! Seriously though, what do you think? Is this kind of content for a remake a good or bad idea?
